WPHammer is an all things WordPress blog. A few months ago our founder Stefan Pejcic was interviewed by Maria Murray, a lead editor at WPHammer. We’re happy to see that the interview is out and here are some parts:

WHAT’S YOUR BACKGROUND WITH WORDPRESS, HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN USING IT?

I’ve been using WordPress for a couple of years. I was an active member of a popular forum that was based on bbPress, and one day the owner decided to sell the forum. I thought it was a great opportunity to invest, so I bought it. And since I wasn’t familiar with WordPress I had to call developer every time I needed something to be done. Soon I realised that I’ve been giving thousands of dollars  for a small tasks and that had to stop. So I started Googling “How to do this” and “How to do that” and eventually ended up reading a bunch of WordPress Tutorials.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE CURRENT STATE OF THE WORDPRESS PLUGIN MARKET?

I think it’s still growing. WordPress is getting more and more popular, so I think there is definitely a bright future for WordPress. Most of my work revolves around it so I hope it’s around for a long time!

HOW DO YOU SEE IT EVOLVING IN FUTURE?

Unfortunately I have seen a huge switch in the plugin market towards super complex and feature-packed plugins, the same goes for WordPress themes. I personally would love to see people using more plugins and using themes with a lot less functions, but better design. There are a lot of poorly designed themes that sell very well due to all built-in options (most of which can be better added using a plugin).

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEONE WISHING TO SELL PREMIUM PLUGINS?

Stay on top of new trends in both functionality and design. Also make sure to treat your customers with respect and provide them with the necessary plugin support they deserve.
